Some of you may wonder, “Gee, who is this Mr. Steffen anyway?”  I started teaching at Prairie in the fall of 1996.  I taught here for 2 years right out of college before moving to the Fox Valley.  While in the Fox Valley I taught and worked for 3 years in the Ripon Public School district; one-year teaching high school math and 2 years teaching assistive technology with at-risk students K-12.  I have coached V/JV wrestling, V football and MS/JV/V track as well as being a wrestling referee for 10 years.  While at Prairie I have taught Algebra 1 & 2, Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Probability/Statistics, AP Statistics, and started being the Dean of Students in 2002.  I have been married since 1996 and we have two children; Caleb attends Prairie’s fourth grade, and Audrey is in 1st grade.  My wife, Nancy works for the Blood Center of Wisconsin managing their quality systems for blood, and organ and tissue procurement.

I just finished and earned my MA/CS (Master of Arts in Christian Studies) through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

When I’m not at school, you will likely find me a church or doing something with our adult, youth and children’s ministries. Nancy and I lead the young adult ministry program as well as being involved in the children’s ministry.  I use the gifts God has given me to faithfully serve as a church Deacon as well.

Winter fun includes curling, sledding with the kids, making snow men, and drinking hot chocolate.

In the summer of 2009, I started racing with a competitive Dragon Boat team out of Racine (Arashi).  Below are some pictures from the Oshkosh and Superior festivals for 2009.
